Staff Accountant


Reporting to the President, the Staff Accountant is responsible for processing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
They will assist with a wide range of accounting duties, including data processing, filing, and other varied accounting activities.

The successful employee will be an organized, detail-oriented person who can assist with multiple projects in a constantly changing environment and be Bilingual to work with our extensive Spanish speaking sub-contractors. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process accounts receivable invoices in accounting software.
  • Record incoming funds then transmitting data to the appropriate accounting personnel.
  • Reconcile monthly accounts receivable, process statements, address agency questions, and reconcile QuickBooks agency accounts and/or any other database systems as applicable.
  • Process accounts payable invoices: approvals, support documents, data entry, reconciliation, and filing.
  • Prepare A/P checks for signature.
  • Assist with all financial and operational audits.
  • Assist with misc data entry and filing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in Window, Window Office, Mac OSX & QuickBooks. 
  • Organizing skills coupled with solid business acumen. Independent workers can understand and request extra support from the team when necessary to accomplish tasks and goals.
  • Act ethically with integrity, professionalism, open-minded, collaborator, and an exceptional communicator.
  • Demonstrates intermediate to advanced skills and knowledge in navigating multiple software platforms. Demonstrates the ability to learn new technology platforms as needed quickly.

  • Bilingual Spanish & English. 


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Business or Accounting education. AA, BA (or equivalent) in Finance/Accounting preferred.
  • Aptitude for learning new software programs related to the assigned tasks.
  • Aptitude for mathematics, with proven ability to complete intermediate accounting mathematical functions.
  • Basic understanding of financial and accounting principles.
  • Microsoft Office Skills, Works, Excel, Outlook, Mac OSX, QuickBooks.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Office environment, extensive computer work; some driving, walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items weighing more than 40 pounds. To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform each responsibility, competency, and essential function satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the qualifications, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. 

Job Type:

Full-time

Pay:

$20.00 - $24.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:

Face coverings required in the public areas of the building. Any meeting with multiple persons mandates a minimum 6 ft separation. Surfaces are sanitized regularly throughout the day.

Education:

  • Business or Accounting education. AA, BA (or foreign equivalent) 

Experience:

  • QuickBooks: 1-year Minimum 
  • Bookkeeping: 1-year Minimum 
  • Bilingual English & Spanish
